Speaker says `no’ to motion on Babli
Hyderabad, July 29 :-
Insisting that the Government take up the riparian dispute involving the Babli project for discussion, the opposition Telugu Desam halted the assembly proceedings for over an hour on Wednesday.
The opposition raised a storm during the question hour by moving the motion on the Babli project issue. But Spekaer Kiran Kumar Reddy adjourned the motion which sparked off a furore with the TDP members clamoring that the issue be taken up for discussion forthwith.
However, TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu sought time to register the party’s protest, which was turned down with CM Y S Rajasekhar Reddy insisting that no protests should be allowed once the motion was rejected by the Speaker.
YSR justified his stand stating that if the speaker had yielded to the TDP’s request then all other party floor leaders would press for the same and precious Question Hour time would be lost.
Not satisfied with CM’s answer, Chandrababu requested the speaker to take up the Babli issue at least on Thursday. But this was also not yielded.
The Business Advisory Committee has scheduled the Babli issue for August 5.
